Look out for these lads:
KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Sheldon Cotrell, Mohammed Shami, Mujib Ur Rehman
Blistering Top:
With World boss Chris Gayle in the team, Punjab should be less worried, but things didn’t go that way in the last season. Gayle was taking his time to settle sucking up deliveries making his peer mates feel the pressure. However, this time, Gayle will be coming with all his guns blazed to mark his return to the world’s biggest league.
KL Rahul, on the other side of the pitch, will be looking to continue his from where he left off in his international form. This year he is given additional responsibilities to lead the pack, and he would be looking to grab this opportunity to mark his presence as a good leader. Karun Nair can open the batting too if things don’t work out well
Mighty Middle Order:
With Glenn Maxwell, Mayank Agarwal, Pooran middle order looks perfectly fine with a good balance of strong lads who can anchor the innings in the middle overs. If there is a break down at the top simultaneously, they are equally destructive at the end.
Sarfaraz Khan, Mandeep Singh, and Deepak Hooda are bankable players at the bench, while Deepak Hooda can chip in some overs with the ball. Overall Middle order looks mighty, which is the utmost required for the team.
Krishnappa Gowtham is under-exploited. He can smash the ball quite long while runs through his over impressively fast with his spin bowling.
Lightning pace Attack:
Adding Sheldon Cottrell and Chris Jordan to Mohammed Shami Punjab has done some impressive trading. This trio will be fearful at the death, while Cottrell is playing his maiden IPL, he has bigger shoes to fill. On the other hand, Jordan is impressive with his variations, but he did not have good outings in the league. Shami will this inexperience pace attack with a bunch full of skilled lads.
James Neesham can also fire in some quick deliveries with the ability to hit some out of the park. He can be a perfect spot for the 6th bowler option.
Ishan Porel has done impressive work for the Bengal team in the domestic circuit. He can come in handy.
Un-settling Spin:
Mujeeb Ur Rahman has to be go-to spin bowling option for his variety of spin attack, Krishnappa Gowtham, and Murugan Ashwin has a more prominent role to play to support Mujeeb Ur Rahman cause. Glenn Maxwell can chip in with some overs. Punjab has to find some good 7-8 overs between them with a variety of spin they offer. This shouldn’t be a big thing for the team.
J Suchith and Ravi Bishnoi can be given a chance given that they provide some excellent quality spin
Provided that team has variant spin, but it misses out on one player on whom they can entirely rely on if someone comes hazy at them.
With entirely of exciting lads in the team pretty much covered with all bases, Kings XI Punjab will be eying to claim the Maiden IPL title, depending on how much they can succeed as a team.
Our XI:
Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Krishnappa Gowtham, Sheldon Cottrell, Mohammed Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ishan Porel, Murugan Ashwin
Pull out Chris Gayle & Deepak Hooda and add Karun Nair & Jimmy Neesham according to pitch and playing conditions
