Kolkata Knight Riders: After claiming their Second IPL title in 2014, KKR has reached the knockout stages a couple of times but never made it to the big stage. They made a pretty below-par performance last year despite having some big names under their belt. This year they spent some big bucks on their fast bowling attack, Spending 15.50 crores on Pat Cummins, making him the highest sold cricketer of the year. With a group of exciting talent in the squad, KKR would hope to claim their third IPL this year. Will they? Only time would tell. KKR Team Analysis
Over the TOP- order:
With the exclusion of batting heavyweight Chris Lynn in the team, KKR is short of getting a head start, but the team is blessed to have Narine. He has already proved himself to give a head start, but this time he needs to be doing at regular intervals; however it mostly depends on Gill on how he anchors the innings with these two.
Tom Banton is another Aggressive player at the top, which adds strength to the bench. He is an excellent replacement to Chris Lynn, who is injury prone. His inclusion in this ipl will undoubtedly leave out Eoin Morgan which is unlikely to happen
Strong Middle:
One of the major concerns in the last outing was there was no support to Nitish Rana, who made close to 400 runs, there was no support to him from other lads. This year KKR has managed to pick Eoin Morgan, who can steady the ship if top-order goes blank. Eoin morgan also brings excellent leadership qualities to the team and will help Dinesh Karthik tackling crucial situations with Morgan being exposed to plenty of International and crunch situations.

The only Superman:
Andre Russell won matches single-handedly to his team with his blistering knocks and getting a crucial breakthrough with his ball. The team lacks another all-rounder if Russell suffers an Injury. They have brought Green, but can he fill in Russell’s shoes?; is the big question that haunts KKR management.
They also have Varun Chakravarthy for four cr who had a bad outing last year with Punjab he went on to scalp one wicket with an economy of 11 in the only match he played. However, owing to his domestic performance, he has good potential, but when compared to Andre Russell, he has to put his blood and sweat
Overpacked Overseas:
With a bunch of strong overseas players in the team, Perfect playing combination will be a puzzle to solve for skipper Dinesh Karthik. With Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Pat Cummins playing every game, it is hard to make a combination with Eoin Morgan and Tom Banton. Eoin Morgan brings great strength to the middle order. He is undoubtedly a player to not miss out that leaves tom Banton on the bench but leaves a bigger responsibility on Narine to give a good start, and if he falls early, that’s a problem for the middle order.
The Spin Attack:
Letting of Piyush Chawla is one of the biggest changes KKR has made this year, owing to the fact that he was the pick of spinners in the team, Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav will handle the spin department, and they have good eight overs between them. The last outing was a nightmare for Kuldeep as he was taken for a toll by other batsmen. However, he will be looking to make his comeback strong this year.
KKR has got 48-year-old Pravin Tambe, to add the pool alongside with Varun Chakravarthy to test on Spin friendly Dubai pitches
Gruesome Fast:
With the addition of Pat Cummins to the team, KKR has strengthened their fast bowling department and likes of Prasidh Krishna and Lockie Ferguson. However, the addition of Ferguson to the playing XI is highly unlikely as overseas slots are locked in. They have a domestic talent of Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti on their bench. Pat Cummins has a bigger role to play here as he will be leading an inexperienced pace attack. He is expected to give crucial breakthroughs.
Our XI:
Sunil Narine, Shubhman Gill, Nitish Rana Eoin Morgan Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Mavi, Pravin Tambe
