Rohit Sharma, Sherfane Rutherford, Suryakumar Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, Chris Lynn , Saurabh Tiwary, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Mohsin Khan, Prince Balwant Rai Singh, Digvijay Deshmukh, Hardik Pandya, Jayant Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, Aditya Tare
Lookout for this lads:
Chris Lynn, Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Bumrah, Coulter Nile.
Balanced Top Order:
With addition of Chris Lynn to the squad they have player who can go brisk at the other end we have Rohit Sharma who is a destructive batsman who takes time to settle in the meanwhile Lynn can fire in some quick shots which can be a pain for opponent
With South African players being in ambiguity on their participation in the league, De Kock will be a player Mumbai would surely miss particularly as Chris Lynn is more injury prone, If things don’t work out that way then it would be a tough call for Rohit to pick one among Lynn and De kock
Swift Middle Order:
With Surya Kumar Yadav being in form of his life already shown his heroics in the domestic circuit, he can anchor the innings being destructive at times. Ishan Kishan had a season to forget in the last outing, he should keep the wickets if De Kock is unavailable making him to play almost every game, he will look to capitalize in this situation to mark his comeback
The team has further depth in batting order under likes of Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya, these two big lads can launch their beast mode at the end of innings making them bankable finishers for the team. Although they have less international exposure over the past year they will look out for this opportunity to make their comeback.
Hardik and Pollard are most invaluable players to the team contributing to over 7-8 overs with the ball and anchoring the team if there is a collapse at top order these lads are pivotal to the team.
Adding to them another West Indian Joins the squad Sherfane Rutherford, he can be a 6th or 7th bowling option and hit some hefty shots. Mitchell McClenaghan is another strong backup they have in their bench.
Can they spin around?
If there is one thing that makes Hitman put his thinking cap on should be spin department, with no notable personalities in the team, Rahul Chahar will lead the spin attack. He has proven his worth last season scalping 13 wickets at an economy rate of close to 7. At the other end there is no real support. Krunal cannot be dubbed as a spinner. These two will have a good 7-8 overs to give to their team in the middle overs.
Jayant Yadav can come in handy with his finger spin and has a knack of bowling in power plays, and even has few wickets. He can add strength to Rahul Chahar but inclusion of him team to playing XI is highly unlikely with set of quality players they have. In overcast conditions Duo of Rahul and Jayant will be on cards.
With likes of Bumrah, Boult, Malinga Pace attack looks incredibly fast. Malinga is a huge asset to the team owing to his experience, we all saw his heroics in the last game of IPL. Adding to it team has good domestic talent of Dhawal Kulkarni in the team.
Addition of Coulter Nile is an added advantage to the team. A handy player who can bowl at crucial stages of game.
Chris Lynn/ De Kock, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga/Nathan Coulter Nile
