MSD Retired! Most Successful Captain of India bids Adieu to Int. Cricket

MSD Retired !! Just after a day landing in Chennai for IPL practice sessions MS Dhoni announced his retirement through Instagram, he quoted Thanks a Lot for Your Love. Although his retirement was around the corner, his decision to quit the game took the cricketing world surprise. Social media is poured with “Thank you” posts by fans and cricketing fraternity. Dhoni played his last game against New Zealand on 9th July 2019, where he was runout Ironically Dhoni was run out in his first game of International cricket against Bangladesh.

MS Dhoni was dismissed for a golden duck in his first game, his initial games didn’t go well, but things changed pretty soon as Dhoni was in the news after a sensational knock of 183* against Srilanka, He has filled that wicket-keeper batsmen void. It was his turning point where he showcased his landmark as ”Helicopter” shot. After early exit from the 2007 world cup, Dhoni played a crucial role in the team’s transition from senior players. After a few months, India won the T20 world cup, and he took the cricketing world to surprise. He was named captain of India in three formats of game, where he handled the team exceptionally well and took the team to no.1 spot in both ODIs and Tests.

From winning the T20 world cup, Tri-series win against Australia, Claiming test mace, Winning world cup, to claiming Champions trophy Dhoni came a long way as a captain. Dhoni will go down in history as one of the finest players India has ever produced. Dhoni was the only captain to win all ICC trophies and regarded as the most successful captain for India. 31 Players have debuted under the captaincy of Dhoni.

At a personal front, Dhoni averages over 50 in ODIs that too for a batsman batting at no.5. Dhoni has finished off with a six 9 times while chasing. He has most stumpings against his name – 195. MSD has captained the side 332 times, the most by any player. Dhoni was part of the ICC ODI team of the year for 8 times, seven times in a row from 2008 to 2014, and one time in 2006. All these records speak for himself. More than this, he has played match-saving knocks numerous times. Dhoni will go down in time as the greatest player India has ever produced.

Raina retires: After few minutes of Dhoni announcing a retirement, Suresh Raina has announced retirement from international cricket. Raina was first Indian to score a century in a T20 Match. Raina has 7987 runs against his name.
